E’s Oven – A Dining Experience

My West Indian child and I love to eat local. We are fond of small intimate dining spots vs large dining rooms. After extensive research, we chose E’s Oven on South Hill for our first night’s dinner. E’s is run by Vernon Hughes. It’s a family run small dining restaurant off the main road. There was ample parking. The establishment is brightly colored and decorated nicely. We were seated outside on a small gallery. Our waiter from start to finish had a smile and served with pleasure. Of course we had to start the night with rum punch. I have enjoyed these concoctions for many years. I was told rum punch was very popular on island and that each establishments has their own recipe. E’s was the best we tasted on island. When I asked the secret ingredients I was told they added Amaretto and Ginger Syrup. Very tasty and quite potent.
I chose the coconut crusted Grouper and Maggie had the Snapper. Both dishes came with fresh mouth watering fish and lovely sides.  It was a relaxing and leisurely dinner from start to finish.  I noticed quite a few locals eating at the bar and lots of take out traffic. We clearly made a great choice and plan on heading back on our next trip.
